Amazon, Machu Picchu , Angel Falls , Nazca Lines , Buenos Aires @ Pantanal , Easter Island , Patagonia , Galapagos ,Archipelago , Rio de Janeiro @ Iguazu Falls , Santiago @ Lake Titicaca . If you plan for a long expensive holiday South America is your spot.

Thanks for the advice and recommendations, I'd love to visit Rio de Janiero at some point, but will certainly need more funds before I do it!

I'm thinking about going to Buenos Aires for three months this winter. I thought I'd rent a small serviced apartment and take Spanish lessons. Any thoughts? Does anyone konw if there are more reasonably priced apartments than the ones I find on the internet?

yup, you are correct, South America is the one of the famous tourist place,
There are lot to see, I was in Easter Island, Buenos Aires @ Pantanal as well as in Angel Falls
