going to new zealand for 45 days.

Hello friends,

I am going to be travelling to New Zealand early october for 45 days . Suggestions as far as sight seeing is concerned. Will be travelling with baby so any important tips to share. Can we make any side trip too, if yes then which place?
Before going there I want to book hotels, so I had referred to asiarooms.com but I am little confused which travel portal to refer for bookings.
